Welcome Ruadt Organization

Rural Area Development Trust is a voluntary social service organization exclusively working the Rehabilitation of Handicapped, which started in 1991 at rented building at B.Dharamathupatty. Initially the programme was started with a mission identifying the disables and creating awareness about the disability in 10 remote villages. Ruadt first started in physically Handicapped children in 1996 with 17 children. We provide then all amenities like Transport, Food, Physiotherapy, Cloths, and Medical treatment-surgery with appliances. The children are studying in formal school.

In 1997 Mr.S.Murugan, who is founder and Secretary of the Ruadt donated 67 cents of land. In first phase Bro.James E.Kimton, supported to construct the building worth Rs.7.75 lakes. The running expenses one met by Developing Countries Foundation (DCF) Denmark, and Dr.S.Desai M.S., through raising some sponsors in Germany.

In the year 1997, Ruadt started Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Programme for person with disabilities in rural areas. In this programme 217 PWDs were benefited some categories till 2001. The programme funded by German Doctors committee, Germany and then extension of CBR programme another 28 villages 619 PWDs supported by CBR forum Bangalore.

In the year 1999 Miriam Dean Trust U.K supported to our disabled children programme. Additionally we stated a programme for Mentally challenged and Spastic Cerebral Palsy children with parents participation. In the year 2002 Government of Tamilnadu Department of Disabled Rehabilitation implement the programme NPRPD (CBR) through Ruadt in Bodinayakanur Block 2525 PWDs and 50 CBR workers one MRW involved in this programme. Newly implement Day care centre at Theni& Uthamapalayam nearly each centre 50 children getting benefit.

Still the journey of the organisation is endless and achieving several milestones.

MILESTONE

  • 1991- registration o f the association and eco development programmes around 10 villages
  • 1993-94- started tailoring unit and training for women , IGP Programmes, pillow making, rexin bags making, health centres at Korangani ,Kottagudi and Mundhal
  • 1996- Economical survey in identifying differently abled children around 10 villages, 17 children were admitted to the residential programme at the rented chicken shed
  • 1997- a small piece of land was donated by the founder for the construction of children home. Bro.James Kimpton supported for the construction of children home building. DCF supported revenue expenditure for 30 children. German Doctor’s Committee, through Anu Desai, referred by Dr.Desai supported to the vehicle for transport for schooling. By the humble support of Bro.James , we did corrective surgery for 17 children and provided assistive devices to them, that enabled them to walk independently.
  • 1998 -started community based rehabilitation for persons with disabilities around 10 villages, totally 217 beneficeries were benefitted by the programme by the year 2000.
  • 1999- the home registered at rehabilitation department, Chennai and Supervision and Control Act at social welfare department ,Chennai. 103 physically challenged children benefitted the by the programme. Mariamme Dean Fund has been supporting the revenue expenditure and some of the capital expenditure.
  • 2000- Extension of community based rehabilitation at Cumbum Valley around 21 villages. We identified 618 beneficeries supported by CBR Forum, Bangalore- Caritas India, New Delhi.
  • 2001- The Government of Tamil Nadu presented our secretary, S.Murugan, the State Level Best Social Worker. The District Collector presented the Best Institution Award.
  • 2002-We bought additional piece of land around 2.37 acres adjoining our main campus for the extension of mentally challenged rehabilitation programme.
  • 2003- Construction of new special school building at our new piece of land. We bought a new minibus for the transportation of our chidren .
  • 2004- We started a new Day Care Centre, name as Manjari for the mentally challenged children, Uthamapalayam Taluk, which is still benefitting around 30 children.
  • 2005- We started Kamarajar early intervention centre at Theni.
  • 2006- We started community programme with the support of Tamil Nadu Government ( Pudhu Vazhvu, SSA-IED)
  • 2007-The Tamil Nadu Government presented the State level Best Institution Award.
  • 2008- The Pushparani Children’s Village Construction
  • 2009- Mobile Therapy Clinic
  • 2010- 2015 – Vocational Training Centre for adult Mentally Challenged persons.Bodinayakanur Taluk-(Infrastructure support by Japan Embassy, Revenue Expenditure suported by RTU UK).Theni Taluk-( Pushparani Vocational Training Centre supported by Nandri- Help for South India, Switzerland.)
